A nine mile tale

GSCF believe in encouraging sports in the community. Soccer is very popular with the men and the ladies like to play netball.

URGE and the Sports Development Foundation of Jamaica built a Multi-Purpose Court for the community in 2006. It is both a basketball court and a netball court. GSCF installed solar lights on the court, giving the community a safe play area in the dark evenings.

9 Mile

GSCF sponsored the “One Love Cup”, a soccer tournament in 2005, 2006 and 2007. We provided uniforms and football boots for the 9 Mile Irie Kickers. Tuff-Gong sponsored the ‘Tuff-Gong’ Cup in 2006 and 2007 for the Under 18’s. The tournament had more than 20 teams participate every year, with some teams coming from Kingston.

Future projects

We are currently looking for sponsorship for the “One Love Cup”, an annual event. We did not have the time or resources to hold the tournament in 2008 and 2009.

We are also looking for sponsorship for the ladies netball team. They need uniforms, balls, bibs and sneakers.
